after long rest for Landscape photography, went for another quick long exposure, sunset and Milky Way shooting at Batu Pahat … and here few simple sample
– all picture use AV mode meter at same position
– just contrast , saturation add to each picture
1.without any filter
– obviously the top-right over expose without any filter use
2. use most standard GND filter than we recommended for here GND .9s
– sky exposure seem better after the GND even with little highlight
3. use RGND 2 stops
– the exposure seem more balance without highlight due to light concentrate on center of the frame
4. with RGND and 10 stops ND filters
– ND 10 stops to make the shutter speed much slower create different slow shutter effect (silky effect for this) . the calm and peace feel make the picture look different from the standard capture
Overall the GND/RGND is to balance the sky exposure with the foreground and ND can create different effect for composition.
We have a day trip for Photography from USA …. this time, guest pick Fraser Hill for the day tour … we leave KL 515am and arrive Fraser Hill ~730am … and arrived back KL by ~8pm
We begin with Chestnut-capped Laughingthrush, Malayan Laughingthrush, Oriental Magpie-Robin and one of the main target : Malayan Hill Partridge … very soon we have capture all with extra
Large Niltava
Greater Yellownape
Red-headed Trogon
……..
follow by lovely Red-headed Trogon, Fire-tufted Barbet, Silver-breasted Broadbill and Sultan tit …. all allow guest capture picture within 20feet …
after lunch , we seem have more luck to have Blue Nuthatch stay long and close for us to have good pictures, and it also follow by Black-and-yellow Broadbill, Banded Kingfisher and daytime roosting Buffy Fish Owl ..
sometime , we complaint we need darker … when ??? why ???
in the noon, under bright sun exposure what if we need more stop down ? and we can have option combine more ND filters e.g. 10 stops and 6 stops filter or now we have option to have single filter in 15 stops down …
e.g. under hot sun out setting for no ND is ISO100 , F2.8 (to have bokeh for some effect) , SS 1/1000
with Big Stopper or ND 3.0/10 stops ND … we can have 1s exposure .. but than the 1s may be not good enough … and what a 15 stops ND (Super Stopper) can do for us
it will give you 30s even the original shutter speed is 1/1000 … !!!!!
few eg. with Big Stopper , combine of Big Stopper and Little Stopper .. so now with single filter we can get longer exposure 😀
We have day trip due to full schedule , original plan was going Fraser Hill but on the way.. it is tree fall down which block our way up and we make quick decision travel back to KRAU forest and may be quick one for Genting Highlands … we have total 65 species view and ~40 lifers for guest … with both Silver Breasted Broadbill and Rail Babbler clear view make the happy day .
Our reach is 9am which is slight late but we are doing very good in the morning 9am-1pm which we have 42 species and wonderful and clear view of RAIL Babbler …

Birding with Olympus M.Zuiko Digital ED 300mm f4.0 PRO Lens | liewwk
I am lucky to have this len with me for 2 days testing … I brought this len to various locations for real world testing … from bright, dark, lowland, montane etc ..
with the small sensor size, this 300mm F4 make to 600mm F4 (35mm sensor equivalent) and it weight only 2.15kg together with EM1 body, battery grip, batteries ….. so if weight is main concern than this len could be yours choice.
*** all the birds pictures, RAW-JPEG just increase contrast, saturation and resize no noise reduction etc
*** will be slowly update more pictures upon request
We start the test at low light and some action bird .. rufous-backed kingfisher feeding on fish .. immediate after got the fish, this bird non stop flipping the fish and it may stop for a moment every once and than .. so have to got the moment right to have this capture [click image for bigger resolution image]

we “endemlaiscguides.com” having Belgium guest for target birds watching, from Kuala Lumpur – KRAU forest – Bukit Tinggi – Fraser Hill – Kuala Lumpur
for the 5 days 4 nights birds watching , from secondary forest to highland back to botanical Garden … we only concentrate on guest targets birds and managed to record 172 species. and for some good opportunity. from
Day 1 – KRAU : we have some good morning with many low land targets meet except a “mysterious” Black & Yellow Broadbill and Banded Pitta… Star Bird of the day we have Rail-Babbler , Garnet Pitta which stay long snough for us , Little Green-Pigeon , Rufous-collared Kingfisher (real close with good view), Banded Kingfisher (found almost end of the day and long view but little far up with scope) & Rhinoceros Hornbill (with beautiful lighting view)
Day 2 – Bukit Tinggi : target for the Mountain Peacock-Pheasant and both male and female show in the early morning … follow by Malaysian Rail-babbler giving a good running view. than we have a bad day without any more target in almost late morning till 3pm … finally when we say while we dint see Whiskered Treeswift …. it calling when we are driving for some target birds and we make a stop and found this fruiting tree give us another few target included Scaly-breasted Bulbul , Red-throated Sunbird, Spectacled Spiderhunter , Yellow-eared Spiderhunter etc
Day 3 – KRAU-Fraser : we were going back to KRAU for trogon and we had ZERO trogon so far ..and again we also look for other lowland target … in the morning we managed to have Banded Pitta (Malayan) [head view]and than follow by first target trogon – Scarlet-rumped Trogon … and we called it a Woodpecker day as most the target woodpeckers just appear infront of us without big effort Checker-throated Woodpecker , Crimson-winged Woodpecker , Bamboo Woodpecker , Orange-backed Woodpecker .
Day 4 – Fraser Hill : not many target birds here and we only looking for those “no so common” birds here … so we have slow day … but still we have very easy view of 2 Marbled Wren-Babbler which make our day .. but we still failed to have one Partridge calling … and missed few Rusty-naped Pitta … but Siberian Thrush giving good view to us which we really enjoy to see they happy feeding around
Day 5 – Fraser Hill – Kuala Lumpur : not really a productive day again as we only target on the main target due to limited time , we managed to get close to Mountain Scops-Owl and have a moving and some blur picture of Gray-breasted Partridge (Malaysian) . when we leaving back to Kuala Lumpur it is very windy and tree fall down and block our way back … by waiting of 30 min the road been clear .
as long as we reach Kuala Lumpur – Shah Alam : very quick one we had 2 target meet : Gray-breasted Spiderhunter & Hooded pitta (2 individual saw also)
I managed rush back to car for few occasions and handheld to capture some birds pictures to share…
UV-Pro is a unit with deep ultraviolet light-emitting diode (DUV-LED), which emits rays with wavelength shorter than 300nm (UVC). UVC protects cameras and lenses from going moudly by killing bacteria on the coating, destroying their DNA & RNA, thus permanently halting the reproduction.
this is good especially for outdoor photographer always visit high humidity environment. it come either CANON and Nikon mount now, it come with a mounting that can easily mount on the len and camera
a portable device to bringing any where
full charge ~4hours
scan 10 lenses now seem still alring
auto scan after press the light on button ~2 min each scan
when we have option, we tend to choose from which is better … better in term of? It come to my mind too , which one to pick and why …. while my Photohunter Tour 2015 Bali , I managed to have both camera with me and have a quick test … but the test as usual a basic test on common interest … more details ? site effect ?
both camera
– ISO100,200,400,800,1600,3200 (also have higher test)
– F16
– MF on the front boat (100% crop picture)
– 2s timer shooting
– M mode
– Auto WB
– CANON EF 24-70 F2.8 II len use
– ACR save pictures , Highlight -21, Shadow 11, Clarity +30 ONLY , Vibrance +10, Saturation +5, no noise reduction, no sharpen
Both camera give much more details compare to previous CANON EOS 5dm3 and it make big different among these 2 cameras (may be you can look at the full size of JPEG for further comment). but 5Dsr just give slight more extra details, contrast but where we almost not noticeable . and not much Moire effect appear over few days testing. may be in future if I notice and will be posting here too
as most of us concern the hood is over size for our beg .. because of it we need to have bigger beg for travel … Lenscoat come out a solution which is TravelHood … this allow us to keep our hood flat and and carry outside from the beg too ..
