Kuala Penyu, Sabah | liewwk

a beautiful place that I want to make a visit for long, and manage to make a quick trip there May 2013…

a quiet village with beautiful beach … low light (mean good for astronomy) …. and few spots good for sunset, sunrise etc …

need transport as no transport in the town or not many… drive normal speed from Kota Kinabalu will require 1.5-2 hr to arrive Kuala Penyu …

few place to stay and we stay at Tempurung Seaside Lodge which serve good food, good service and good relax place if bring friend, family 😀 … but for photography require transport to drive little way out .. range 5-15km…

when photographer meeting up with tree

we love tree ? do we ?

and landscape photographer love tree, rock .. and always make ti as foreground .. important part for the frame …

and …

3 ….. weird

Photographer meet a tree - 3

and …. guess who is this .. and I do believe … “photographer love tree” !!!!!!

simply a photo ?

many of us understand before we press the shutter , we should plan for technical/art compo, horizontal, 2/3 …. etc ….

but there is something more important for landscape photographer

UNDERSTAND the NATURE and PLAN for the shot …

for landscape lover, it is not just photography but there are more to understand/know … e.g. tide, direction, timing, weather … etc ….

if you want to be serious then start ask yourself

1. must facing east for sunrise ?

2. is good to shoot this at low tide ? or high tide ?

3. what’s the tide level at beach near by ?

4. what time moonrise/moonset/sunrise/sunset

5. are all countries having same sunrise/sunset/moonset/moonrise time ?

etc ?????

e.g. are these plan or just shot what I see while I was there ?

Pantai Jeram high tide

tide coming up slow ...

no moon light - Milky Way

so do you think planning is important for a landscape photographer ?
