It is one of the most common and beautiful birds we encountered, first spotted right after driving out of our hotel. The moment I laid eyes on it, I shouted “Motmot!”— mesmerized by its stunning racket-tail. Throughout our 18-day trip across Costa Rica, we were lucky enough to spot this species many more times.

这是我们此行最常见也最美丽的鸟类之一，刚开出酒店就迎面遇上了它。当我第一次看到它时，脱口而出喊着“䴕翠！”，那别致的双桨状尾羽真的太惊艳了。在为期18天的哥斯达黎加之旅中，我们有幸多次与𫫇氏䴕翠相遇。

It was such a challenge to get a full view of this bird when we first heard and tried to spot it. Ironically, at our next site, one just walked right out to feed in front of us! However, it didn’t show its crest while eating, so I still prefer the first one we worked so hard to see. Huge thanks to our guide, Raul!

第一次听到和尝试寻找这鸟时，想要看清它的全貌真的非常具有挑战性。结果在另一个地点，一只鸟竟然直接走出来在大家面前觅食！不过它吃东西的时候没有展示羽冠，所以我还是更喜欢那只让我们费尽千辛万苦才看清的。非常感谢我们的向导 Raul！

The Scarlet Macaw is truly an impressive sight. As one of the largest macaw species, they are quite common to hear and spot soaring through the sky if you visit the right habitats. True to their nature, they always make their presence known with their trademark loud and boisterous calls.

绯红金刚鹦鹉绝对是一道令人惊叹的风景。作为体型最大的金刚鹦鹉之一，只要你在对的地方，就能经常听到并看到它们在空中飞翔。它们一如既往地用标志性高亢且喧闹的鸣叫声彰显着自己的存在。

Out of more than 380 bird species photographed during our March 2026 Costa Rica birding tour, this particular bird leaves me with some of the fondest memories. It is completely tiny, has distinct long legs, and looks incredibly cute.

在2026年3月哥斯达黎加观鸟团所拍摄的380多种鸟类中，这是最令我记忆深刻的鸟类之一。这种鸟体型非常迷你，长着一双长腿，外表看起来真的十分可爱。

We were incredibly fortunate to photograph three different species at a single location, all at a great distance and eye level. One of them was a fascinating bird that looks like a cross between a nuthatch and a woodpecker. This particular species is one of the larger ones; usually, after the first sighting, they tend to stay high in the canopy and far away from us. We feel very lucky to have captured it at such a perfect level and close range this time.

我们非常幸运能在同一个地点以极佳的距离和高度拍摄到三种鸟类。其中一种鸟看起来像是䴓和啄木鸟的结合体。这是体型较大的品种之一，通常在第一次露面后，它们总是停在高处且远离我们。这次能在这个高度和近距离拍到它，真的非常幸运。

The Tanager family is truly remarkable. No matter where we travel, we encounter these birds, and most of them—like this one—are breathtakingly beautiful. The variety of colors on this bird is simply incredible.

唐纳雀科是一个非常特别的鸟类家族。无论我们走到哪里，都能看到唐纳雀的身影，而且其中大多数都像这只一样美丽动人。这只鸟身上的色彩真是丰富多彩。

It is a very special bird that we have been eager to see and photograph. We were fortunate to have a great team that helped us find it right by the roadside. It is such an adorable bird, sitting there with its egg out in the open.

This is one of the bird families we have been hoping to see and photograph. We were fortunate to have several close encounters with them in the open, giving us wonderful opportunities for photos.

When we first spotted this bird high in the canopy, everyone captured hundreds of photos of this common yet stunning species. After a few days, however, most people lost interest regardless of how well it posed or how perfect the lighting was. I still make sure to capture it whenever a photo opportunity arises.
我们在冠层顶部第一次见到这种鸟时，每个人都为这种虽常见但极美的鸟拍了几百张照片。但几天后，这鸟变得无人问津，哪怕它站姿再好、光影再美。只要有机会，我依然会坚持为它拍照。

While some birders prefer solo outings, birding in a group can be a major advantage. While we were all focused on photographing a Great Curassow in the dense forest, Xin Hui spotted a smaller bird that everyone else had overlooked. Once I finished with the Curassow, I quickly helped the group locate this elusive find. It was such a thrill to hear everyone shouting “Where? There!” in excitement. Although this species is rarely seen, it wasn’t shy at all, moving slowly even with nine of us standing just a few meters away. Having fun companions really makes the experience.
虽然有些鸟友喜欢独自观鸟，但在某些情况下，团体观鸟其实大有优势。当时我们所有人都在茂密的森林里忙着拍摄大凤冠雉，欣卉却发现了一只被大家忽略的“小”鸟。在我拍完大凤冠雉后，立刻帮大家寻找这只鸟。大家兴奋地喊着“在哪？在那！”场面非常有趣。这种鸟虽然难得一见，但它一点也不怕人，即使我们九个人就在它面前几米处，它依然慢悠悠地移动。和有趣的鸟友一起观鸟真是太好玩了。
