*** I will keep updating this post for all I capture and remember ……. and please stay connect with me 😀
just another sample of Big Stopper use … the use of the ND filters can help to create different effect or mood of our pictures ….
many may ask how we going to use ND filters or Big Stopper as it is almost total dark ..
1. use GND/RGND or shoot like normal but capture the shutterspeed, ISO, F number… e.g below. but make sure set to Manual Focus after the capture or record of the setting
2. use the same ISO, Aperture but then convert the shutter speed base on 10 stops filter exposure table, ‘long time’ (for Iphone user), ND Calc (for Android user)
e.g. ISO100 , F16 , 1/30s before ND1000 , Big Stopper…. will change to
ISO100, F16, 30s
– DO NOT change setting ISO, Aperture
– DO NOT change focus (after the MF)
3. few notes need to be taken
– white balance could be run, you may correct it with white balance tool at Photoshop, Lightroom, DPP … by click white color spot
– the light condition could be change e.g. sunset .. it will change to darker so need to compesate with some add on time … e.g. 30s above I normally add on 10-20% time for sky getting darker
– sturdy tripod need to be use avoid shake …
– long exposure noise need special process to remove (color noise) , if do not know any method turn on long exposure noise reduction
a beautiful place that I want to make a visit for long, and manage to make a quick trip there May 2013…
a quiet village with beautiful beach … low light (mean good for astronomy) …. and few spots good for sunset, sunrise etc …
need transport as no transport in the town or not many… drive normal speed from Kota Kinabalu will require 1.5-2 hr to arrive Kuala Penyu …
few place to stay and we stay at Tempurung Seaside Lodge which serve good food, good service and good relax place if bring friend, family 😀 … but for photography require transport to drive little way out .. range 5-15km…
Finally, I make a trip to a beautiful Indonesia again and this round managed to visit East Java which include Papuma and Bromo for seascape and volcano view …
we reach Surabaya which a real busy city , car moving slow …… and we travel ~7-8 hours down south to Tanjung Papuma … spent 2 nights with mix of cloudy and clear days we enjoy the beautiful beach , sunrise, sunset and nightsky … and I am sure will re-visit this place very soon ……….
after 2 nights spending over here , we travel ~3.5 hours to Mount Bromo. another 2 “cold” days we had on the Lava View resort which give us beautiful 2 sunrise, nightsky but no luck for sunset …….. this place like other share a very beautiful volcano … we climb up for 2 viewpoint which I will share the view soon here (by update)…
1. Penanjakan 1 – easy to access but very limit space for photography
2. Penanjakan 2 – nearer to Lava View resort but need ~20-30min moderate hike but plenty of space for shooting .. 😀
*** both view are facing direct south which have sunrise on left ….
– simply another Papuma Beach Milky way .. think everyone come here is easy to get this view
update 2018 May 22

the sunrise view , and this is captured with Panasonic G9 80 Megapixel High-resolution Mode
– a nearer view with Mavic Air
– beside sunrise , sunset also can have good view here
– nightscape view at Mount Bromo always highlight of the tour
–
– after sunrise sessions, most the tourist will travel close to Mount Bromo with horse or by walk .. this could be good moment capture some good horse moment
– beside Mount Bromo, as usual we visit this lovely beach call Papuma Beach … sunrise, sunset , slowshutter and nightscape all can be attractive here

update 2013 March 26
– I wish I stay near our hotel for the closer view of this beautiful moment even the hotel facing west
a beautiful place with sunrise and dam view, and it is not very touch hike to the peak for photography but advice to have experience person to go together especially hike when dark … (chase for sunrise)
i. 20-30 min drive from KL city
ii. ~45-90 minutes slow hike , steep on start but after ~15min should be easy but some part require hand for hike)
after reach clear part to view the dam, it is the safe place to shoot sunrise … avoid go further …. as it is slight dagerous hike especially on dark

Bukit Tabur is a hill located in Taman Melawati, Malaysia. It is also known locally as Bukit Hangus. The hill is very prominent as it is part of Klang Gates Quartz Ridge and can be seen from the Kuala Lumpur Middle Ring Road 2. The hill, which is less than 1000 metres, is a quartz ridge. Climbers enter the hiking trail via Kampung Klang Gates, 50 metres from the gates of the Klang Gates Dam, at the back of Taman Melawati for a 3-4 hour climb. The Gombak Forest Reserve and Klang Gates Dam are beside the hill. The peak offers s view of the dam.
sometime we always ask do we just capture beautiful places/view/insect/model pictures ? this picture just a very simple picture that show the reflection from the lake .. but for me this is a beautiful view and I wish to share with my friends, family … etc .. and why care is this a good “photography” or not 😀
I have friends telling to me recently, “photographer A always shoot the same places … he/she not boring ?” … “aiya his/her pictures so so only, the places are beautiful” … “aiya, his/her picture no foreground one why like that also apture” … “why his/her picture so plain one not creative at all” …………….
I always just reply with .. “ohh” .. “hmmm” , why care other, ask yourself “do you enjoy this hobby?” if YES , then it is enough else why ? 😀
