was away for few days for Jul-Aug Nightscape and Correct Exposure workshop and thanks all for this success workshop + outing ….
I didn;t shoot a lot except last day while I saw my lovely wave … and thinking of how close every can go toward the wave splash … and am happy almost everyone got “wet”
and while I was there… ask again myself and other .. how close will you go and because of beautiful pictures will you go close to rish your gear for wet and malfunction ?

finally, I make another trips to finish up the Bali (yes finally from east-south-west-north. this trip mainly for looking for new spots and wildlife opportunity for photography . Thanks again for Agung guide and driving us around 😀

– one of the most dramatic sunset so far from grey–>blue–>purple–>orange–>golden within 1-1.5 hours and this always happen @Bali 😀

a famous Bali tourist spot where it will full with tourist while sunset time …
a place with few beautiful cliffs but this place full with naughty monkeys where it will take your belonging and sometime we need to use banana , food to exchange (some one there will ready to help you with some $$$) … but not every time it work, they may took yours spec and run away 😀 … so we just have to be-careful.
from one end to another end is ~20-30 minutes walk …. the center temple always full with tourist … and monkeys as well …

a tired trip as we travel most of the tourist spots and non tourist area to find
out more about this beauty Island …. thanks for our Guide (Agung for brining
us around to what we call photographer interest places)… he know what

1. Kintamani area round the Mount Batur and Batur Lake

3. a Old Palace belong to Puri Kesiman (Agung Grandfather was King and owner of
this)

4. Kuta – Blue Point Beach, Uluwatu and Jimbaran
5. Jatiluwih – not just the main tourist area but he brought us to few “appetizer”

Let start with Mount Batur, a cooling and
beautiful places… while we step in hotel the view immediate make us WOW … at
night while we look at the sky millions of stars are up there , Batur Lake is a
good place with some human interest and beautiful lake view …

The hike to the Mount Batur is moderate, but the view along the hike simply amazing …
the stars, Milky way were like standing side by side with me … the sunrise view
with Mount Rinjani is simply awesome . But need to have local guide to bring up
~Rp200-300k per person and ~2-3hours hike for slow people like me.

sometime … it is the view make the picture …
there are some place is so beautiful , as long as you are there .. then you will be attract by the view … many places are like that and one of the most beautiful places I ever view .. “lao Zai Shan” from Yangshuo
nothing much angle can be capture if you use wide angle the view is like

it is not a common tourist area as it need little hike .. if you know Bukit Tabur in Kuala Lumpur, it is almost same mountain but it is steep (60-80 degree average) for ~ 1 hours hike …. but it worth every single effort put in

many of us understand before we press the shutter , we should plan for technical/art compo, horizontal, 2/3 …. etc ….
but there is something more important for landscape photographer
UNDERSTAND the NATURE and PLAN for the shot …
for landscape lover, it is not just photography but there are more to understand/know … e.g. tide, direction, timing, weather … etc ….
if you want to be serious then start ask yourself
1. must facing east for sunrise ?
2. is good to shoot this at low tide ? or high tide ?
3. what’s the tide level at beach near by ?
4. what time moonrise/moonset/sunrise/sunset
5. are all countries having same sunrise/sunset/moonset/moonrise time ?
etc ?????
e.g. are these plan or just shot what I see while I was there ?
so do you think planning is important for a landscape photographer ?
CHINA – GuiLin Terraced Fields [桂林 , 龙脊梯田]
the 1st stop for my 1 week trip at CHINA 21-28 May 2011…. what I remember ~1hour travel from GuiLing international airport to the main Entrance of the Longji Terraces (龙脊梯田) tourist centre … follow by another ~40 minutes toruist bus to the start point of the Terraces… then ~2 hours easy walk (stair cases) to the highest point of visit point 4 ( 金坑梯田)
the first view near our accomondation ….
the view simply amazing but too bad the weather raining non stop and base on the weather forecast the rain will last for another 1-2 day .. ..
but hope for the best, I still woke up ~430am the next morning to have a morning walk …. and I am happy that I found a view that can show how the water been flow through the field …..
farmer will start using manual way to make hole allow water from top flow down to the next field and this repeat for every layers …….

I share a Splash worth to share yesterday, where I do not able to stand firm on ground …
but today let share how I shoto at a place I stand real firm … or not easy to move 😀
think the picture I capture at this angle had been remove and I have one recent post one which need ~10 steps forward 😀

it is too much fun to look for better angle in Landscape Photography … it just make me keep moving .. so if you like Landscape let move and let’s try some new place and angle ………..
a Splash shot worth to share …
a simple shot that may not come out easy…. just share one of my tough shot recently done at Kemasik Beach, Kemaman, Terengganu…
I was standing near the big rock waiting for the big splash …. my len filters keep splash by wave, need non stop drying , and myself wet too after few splashes that I feel not stong enough and finally I got the splash what I looking for … then I got wet and have to run away from it …. have ~30-50 shutter press for this
and this is a simple and happy shot with a lot of effort (for me ….)
