as most of us concern the hood is over size for our beg .. because of it we need to have bigger beg for travel … Lenscoat come out a solution which is TravelHood … this allow us to keep our hood flat and and carry outside from the beg too ..
one of the best articles describes the difference from Dave Bakewell https://digdeep1962.wordpress.com/2017/02/07/identification-of-paddyfield-richards-and-blyths-pipits-in-malaysia/

I like to use CPL on my landscape, and I ask myself do I need one for my birding and based on my understanding … I MUST have one 😀 … and I bought one for test …. (results from last years testing and now only I have time to share this)
beside getting better reflection … I seldom do wader photography … so not rally have test result … but I found it is very useful in the forest ….
let’s picture tell the story
we always have reflective leafs create “white spots” that we really hate to have .. e.g.
that I add in CPL and reduce the flare direction
or another sample of our GEM of forest Garnet Pitta
a simple video record while rotating the CPL
you can obviously see how the CPL help me 😀
if you interest on CANON PL-C52 (WII) or NIKON C-PL1L (52mm) feel free to contact me .. as I got limited units available
I am using Taiwan design hide for years , and I loving it due to the Ventilation is good even without expose us (open the center opening for better ventilation) …
without open the center opening big we still look outside the hide and with better Ventilation
(look 1st picture below, from outside view into the hide is camo as well )
(opening can open or close for better view and Ventilation )
(from inside view outside)
**** Extra layer for water/rain resistant (tested can withstand ~5 min of heavy rain ~20min of drizzling.
**** also come with ground layer so we can put our gears on the ground without dirty, scratch easily … also prevent leeches direct onto our leg/body.
as many of my sharing .. CPL is one of the most important filter for me … I use it almost 90% of my landscape photography .. now we also bring you HAIDA 100mmx100mm Square CPL
neutral density filter or ND filter is filter reduce light going to the sensor … so create slower shutter speed …. (normaly what we want) .
previously I only pick Lee Filter ND filters for my photography use as the color cast is minimum and best in the market …. recently many brands come out with their filters (square, screw in .. etc ) and some of them give very acceptable color cast and very good value of money … one of them I test is HAIDA …
based on first test few months back, I found HAIDA ND filters giving warmer cast and Lee actually giving colder cast …. but both are very acceptable and very easy to correct if we want to do so …
below are simple capture
– same ISO, same focus and spot area
– Auto White balance
– AV mode
– timer and all shooting continuously one after another
– direct raw-jpeg from DPP
from simple capture above , we can see the cast are minimum for both … whether slight warmer or colder than depend on personal preference …

update 202405
– a very tiny special Endemic of Sabah. Cute and normal stand high up to look for prey
– another lucky came to this spot normally just for “bird seeing” which the small bird just stand 30-40m above from ground .. but when we arrive and looking for this bird just for bird watch. But after I walk around, I call everyone down it is low !!!! and 2 together ..
– it is weird this bird seem disappear from all common sites, especially almost not found at Danum Valley BRL, Kinabatangan River and etc… but this family found quite near to KK town ..any how, due to location, not all visit can be make there but for last special targets tour. We special arrange to be there and award with 2 in one frame
– after missed the Crimson-Headed partridge at common spot (after wait of ~1 hour), decided to continue to KNP and found this lovely tiny raptor. only with 500mm so it is a bit heavy crop but love to see it doing good and with lovely butterfly
– it is surprise to see it at this elevation again and this time not that high up at canopy, but backlit with quite a lot of shadow and highlight recovery.
– Found across the globe; considerable plumage variation across subspecies

update 202104
– we were actually searching the shorebirds near the beach and all of sudden all birds take off and we found this world’s faster bird dive down and trying to hunt the Lesser Sand Plover but it failed… and again it trying to hunt for another 2x Curlew Sandpiper but it failed again and leave without any success.
– it really dives down and flying all direction fast and make many frames out of focus. It can reach over 320 km/h while diving for hunting.
